Ala Alazzeh, Ph.D. student of cultural anthropology, critiques the Fatah call for strike on October 9th, which was held in protest of Israel's "measures against al-Aksa Mosque" in Jerusalem. Alazzeh considers the Palestinian and international outcry against Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' decision to withdraw support for Goldstone's UN report of Israel's latest war against Gaza.
Questioning the effectiveness of strikes in Palestine's contemporary political economy, Alazzeh compares strategies of the 1st Intifada and ones needed today.

The idea of an academic boycott of Israel emerged in 2002 and has since gained momentum worldwide, particularly in the aftermath of the December 2008 and January 2009 Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip. In his Economy of the Occupation report for the Alternative Information Center, Uri Yacobi Keller presents a thorough and comprehensive analysis of each Israeli academic institution and its complicity with the occupation of the Palestinian territories. He analyzes the movement on both a theoretical and a practical level, demonstrating that each Israeli institution has opted out of neutrality and has chosen to support the Israeli security forces' occupation. Here, Uri Keller speaks about the history of the academic boycott movement, its motives, methods, and chances for success.
